Wealth Building Master- Focus on What You Control to Master Wealth Building

Are you like most people? Most people worry about things they cannot control. Since it takes so much of their focus, they do not end up doing the activities that will lead to results such as building wealth. What are you focused on and why? Do you focus on broad goals like making a certain amount of money or signing people up in your business activities?


The criteria for identifying goals that you can control are very straightforward. Are you solely responsible for the activity? If the answer is no, then this is not a goal that you control and therefore, should not be the focus of much of your attention. Achieving broad goals that involve the actions of other people outside your control are really results that you seek to have by following actions that you do control. In order to make a certain amount of money, people have to enroll in your business and pay you. So what do you control? You control the acquiring of leads and prospecting activities that will ultimately determine your success. You control your mindset and how you present yourself to others. You control how you speak with others and whether you are engaged in listening to their responses rather than seeking to have a sale.

If you focus on the activities that you control and specifically the ones that will either grow your business or train you to be better at doing your business, you will ultimately master building wealth. Early on there is a need for much more training. As you grow in ability, the emphasis needs to be on income generating activities. This is where I am in the process; I need to focus 60 percent of my work time on income generating activities and only 40 percent on skill development activities. This is a shift form devoting over 80 percent of my time on skill development. By focusing on calling prospects and generating leads, you are always in the game of helping others and making money. The more skilled you are and the more time you devote, the more you will master wealth building.
